Weekly creativity assignments:week 1

So I have decided to start challenging my self with weekly assignments....(I'm saying it's for creativity at this point but it may morf into over all development ex: clean desk everyday).

Now I intend for these to come on a rolling basis so what I start week 1 is still happening week 2. None of these things are gonna have crazy time commitment either 5 to 10 min a day max!

So what am I doing for my inaugural week? Self portraits ( so narcissistic !) why? Because I'm gorgeous ! ;p well more because I'm terrible at keeping a diary as I'm bad at spelling (myself and written English have been fighting for years) spell check!

Using fabric left over from an old job I had I started playing around and made this strange skirt/bustle thing. The scraps I have had a channel like pocket along one side so I was able to make it runch.
Not sure how to finish it up or really what to do with it.
Also working on a sun dress made out of a stretch jersey I picked up at Sew Lo a few weeks ago. (I know it's half hiding under my hello kitty hoodie but I had to protect it from the cat.

A Die cut machine that is customizable to take my cut paper to the next level.I cam make so many awsome things and discount my prices....but the 499.99 price tag is a huge block in the way.

A Tablet I was really hoping the Ipad would grow up enough that it could be a good Art tablet as well as a tiny computer but I may have to continue holding my breath.
Note to every one: If there is something you know you'll need to buy eventually when you are in college, learn how to cook and buy it then!

I want a MAC Book will accept anything but the Air, but really want a Pro. Once again...something I should have bought in college...ahhh disposable income how I miss you...

So, I wanted on of these Japanese Import bags but they where no longer available online so I decided to make my own.

I have this really nicely colored lime green soft Corduroy that I had used for purses before, I had planned on making the whole thing out of it (except for the lining of course). But the material didn't like being made into the small thin tentacles (it tends to frey and come apart). So I made the face, tentacles, and eyes out of felt. It only took me 3 hrs to make this from start to finish.

This is a in progress shot before I added the straps and the contrast stitching on the face piece.


The finished bag, better light version coming soon.

This is the bag with my wallet, it's designed to carry that, my camera, my phone and my keys.

This is the first finished Item in my Halloween costume.

Amazing book brings you all the way from Aristotle to Darwin and Killer Robots.

May need to buy this one, lots of practical advice on taxes, websites and how to get unstuck...Also full of personality and a genuinely fun read.

Also on the to buy list...finally a book to get my boyfriend interested in my work (he makes guitar amps). Can't wait to learn how to solder and teach him to sew!

Really really good...actually stayed up until 5am reading this one. Character really sucks you in and can't wait to see what she dose with this well developed world.

Took me a while to get into it, but couldn't put it down by the end.

Sweet, fun, light, read. Will defiantly look out for sequels.

Thought provoking, well thought out.

a must buy! Makes my fingers itch to get started.

So I got the flu the Thursday before last. This would not be a big deal for most but because of my asthma this Flu opened me up to succumbing like a 19th century romance heroin to pneumonia.

This is 2010, and Obama is president, so why am I still at risk for dying if the influenza and a severe chill...

Anyway I saw these from one of my favorite plush artist on Etsy (sold out, but I can hope!) and feel they would have helped me a whole lot more than all the Chicken soup and Narcotic Robitussin in the world could have.
